More wet conditions heralded the start of Friday's qualifying session for the Brazilian Grand Prix as Kimi Raikkonen went out for his flying lap, his time a 1:24.607. McLaren team mate David Coulthard was second out and was four hundredths behind Raikkonen.

Next up was Juan Pablo Montoya, third quickest but he lost it under braking, followed by Renault's Fernando Alonso setting the fourth fastest time. A pause before the next set of drivers got under way.
Michael Schumacher took to the track and promptly spun on his out lap but managed to displace Alonso for fourth. Jarno Trulli put his Renault into sixth, followed by the Williams of Ralf Schumacher. Heinz-Harald Frentzen quickly stole sixth from Trulli and was looking likely to be eclipsed by the BAR of Jenson Button until the young Brit spun.
The session was stopped due to Button's mishap, the rear wing hanging off the BAR as he went into the pits and debris all over the track. Nick Heidfeld was first out once the green light was on and Rubens Barrichello took over the top slot shortly afterwards.
Jacques Villeneuve put in a stellar lap to claim position five for BAR Minardi's Jos Verstappen was a respectable twelfth, Ralph Firman thirteenth for Jordan. At his home country event, Cristiano da Matta did well with eighth.
Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella managed to sneak twelfth but really a disappointing effort for both Jordan drivers. Antonio Pizzonia got back on track after his crash in free practice and whapped the Jag into sixth! Go Jungle Boy! As if that wasn't enough, Jaguar team mate Mark Webber screeched into provisional pole with a 1:23.111. Pick me up off the floor someone, please.
Olivier Panis bettered Toyota team mate da Matta with sixth on his flying lap but Webber was the star -- how it will translate in tomorrow's qualifying is anyone's guess but for now I'm chucking some tinnies on the barbie.
Final top eight classification: Webber, Barrichello, Raikkonen, Coulthard, M. Schumacher, Panis, Villeneuve, Pizzonia.
