Williams Barcelona test 2001-0703

Day One (of Four) 3rd July 2001

Weather Sunny and dry. Average air temperature 30ºC. Average track temperature 47ºC.

The BMW WilliamsF1 Team started the first of a four-day test at Barcelona with Marc Gene driving. He will drive for all four days.

Marc Gene

"The day was okay even though we did not complete all the running we had planned. In the morning we found some chassis developments that are very positive in certain areas, and I am very optimistic about how these will be good for the rest of the season."

Tim Newton (Test Team Manager)

"We had a slow start to the test but managed to do some engine measurements and set-up changes today. We have four days here and so there is plenty of time to complete the scheduled programme."

Dr Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director)

"We have carried out several test programmes today with the two focal points being engine set-up and further development of the traction control. We are also involved with the tyre testing. For tomorrow morning a race distance is scheduled, and after that the tyre testing will be continued."

LURCY-LEVIS TEST - Day One (of Three)

Ricardo Sperafico is testing at the Lurcy-Levis track in France for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team and over the next three days will be conducting aerodynamic straight line testing. The weather was warm and dry.
