The AT&T Williams team curtailed their Barcelona test on Friday last week after identifying an issue with a front wing mount that was the cause of an accident involving Kazuki Nakajima.

Nakajima was unhurt in the incident, but both cars were withdrawn while a modification was fabricated back at team headquarters and delivered to the track the next day. However, in the event, the modification still did not meet the stringent standards required and the decision was taken after around 70 laps of running across the two FW30s on Saturday to end testing in order to pursue a permanent fix.

Team Technical Director, Sam Michael said, "We had a reliability issue with the front wing at Barcelona during testing. We could not implement an appropriate short term solution so we decided to return to the factory to address it in time for the Jerez test in just over a week's time."

Nico Rosberg said, "The test was not so good as we didn't do as much running as we would like, although we learnt a few valuable things especially with respect to tyres. The problem itself is easy to resolve, it was just unfortunate that we ran out of time during the test, but I now cannot wait for the Jerez test next week to really progress the work on the new car."

Kazuki Nakajima said, ""It was a shame that we had to stop the testing due to a technical issue. But I had a good feeling with the car until the problem happened. My first reaction to the FW30 is that it quite clearly is generating more downforce, it is showing good mechanical reliability so far, it is consistent with all the good characteristics of the FW29, so it is not a big change from how I need to drive it and it has a very neutral balance, which is great for a driver -- and overall it looks prettier, too!"

Nakajima continued, "Despite the problem over the weekend in Barcelona, I believe that we will be back in Jerez for next week's test in good shape again. Personally, I am pleased with my fitness in the cockpit and looking forward to the next test."

The AT&T Williams team returns to the track in Jerez de la Frontera on Monday February 11th where the fourth in a series of celebration winter liveries will be revealed.
