Williams Jerez test summary 2005-09-27/28

The BMW WilliamsF1 Team today completed a productive two day test in Jerez. Mark Webber, Antonio Pizzonia and Nico Rosberg shared testing duties. The team's drivers covered over 300 laps, a total of just over 1,300kms, over the two days. Due to the forthcoming test ban, the team will not return to the test track until November.

Sebastian Vettel made his Formula One debut in Jerez this week. The young German was awarded the opportunity by BMW for his success in the 2004 Formula BMW ADAC Championship. Of the experience, Vettel commented:

"It was an unbelievable experience! The brakes, the g-forces and the power of the engine are beyond description. Thanks to BMW and WilliamsF1 for giving me this chance to test. The test team looked after me brilliantly and I learnt plenty."

Sam Michael (Technical Director, WilliamsF1):

"Today marked the end of our in-season testing programme. The WilliamsF1 test team has worked hard all year at various venues to progress the reliability and performance of the FW27. They will now take a well earned break before starting again at the end of November."

"Mark, Antonio and Nico spent the two day test concentrating on brake and electronics testing as well as set-up options. The drivers also ran tyre evaluations to select the compounds for Shanghai."
