On the second day of testing at Valencia there were again two teams and five drivers at work and it was Williams at the top of the time sheet once more Race drivers Alex Wurz and Nico Rosberg were first and second fastest respectively, Wurz clocking 1:11.614 and Rosberg just under three tenths off.

Wurz was actually fastest on Monday too -- initially Williams had team tester Kazuki Nakajima at the top of the times and Wurz second, but have since said they had a glitch with their timing system and Wurz was the quicker of the two. Today the duo worked on set up and pit stop practice with the race mechanics.

Spyker had three drivers on duty: Christian Albers was the quickest of the trio in third, a second and half off Rosberg, with Adrian Sutil fourth and test driver Fairuz Fauzy fifth. Like fellow team testers Giedo van der Garde and Adrian Valles yesterday, Fauzy completed the mileage required for him to be eligible for his superlicense.

The Malaysian completed 76 laps in the morning before handing the car over to Albers. "I was very pleased, especially as I didn't make any big mistakes," Fauzy commented. "The most important thing today was to get the licence, but from now on we can start to try different things."

Set up work and tyre evaluation was the programme for Albers and Sutil, including a race simulation. "Christijan took over the car at lunch to complete set up work plus evaluate the new Bridgestone Potenza tyres," said chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne.

"Additionally, we looked at our performance over one lap and conducted a race simulation with Adrian Sutil. In the longer runs we know the car is consistent, but we are struggling to make the tyres work on first lap. We'll continue to work on this tomorrow."
