Justin Wilson will drive for Jaguar Racing for the remainder of the 2003 Formula 1 World Championship commencing at the German Grand Prix in just under two weeks' time.

Wilson, who has impressed in his first Formula 1 season with the underfunded Minardi team, will be team-mate to his former F3000 rival, Mark Webber. The 24-year-old Sheffield driver is absolutely thrilled.

"This is fantastic news and a simply brilliant opportunity for me. Jaguar have been really impressive this year and made a big step forward over the winter. As Mark Webber has proven, this is a team that can score world championship points and I'm determined to do just that."

Wilson joined Minardi this year and attracted much attention by raising £1.2m of funding for the Minardi team by turning himself into a public company, a first for a Grand Prix driver. Over 900 fans purchased shares in Justin Wilson plc and today's news will take them a step nearer to a return on their investment.

"I am immensely grateful to my Minardi boss, Paul Stoddart, for having enough confidence in me to give me the drive this year and for doing an amazing job on so little money, giving me the opportunity to learn about Formula 1."

Despite his inexperience Wilson has made a real name for himself this season by making some amazing starts in several Grands Prix, as well as demonstrating an ability to race hard and without mistakes.

"I can't wait to get in the car at Hockenheim. Of course it's not going to be easy jumping straight in but I'm absolutely determined to reward the team's confidence in me. Jaguar have such a fantastic motorsport heritage and I'm just so very proud to have this opportunity to join the team."
