The British-Korean driver will make his F3.5 V8 debut later this month at Jerez and also race in the season finale at Barcelona in November.

"I am very happy to join the grid of the Formula V8 3.5 with RP Motorsport," said Aitken.

"The FV8 3.5 is an amazing car and having the opportunity to compete with RP is even better. I can’t wait to be competing in Jerez."

Team principal Fabio Pampado commented: “I want to welcome Jack Aitken to our Formula V8 3.5 team.

"Jack is a driver with great talent, as he has shown last year in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and later this year in GP3.

"We know each other very well since he has been racing with us in the EuroFormula Open.

"I am convinced that such a demanding championship will help Jack to be well prepared for his future," he added.

The 21-year-old currently races in the GP3 series with Arden International and sits fifth in the standings, having taken his maiden win in Spa's sprint race.

Aitken has competed with RP Motorsport earlier this year in the Euroformula Open championship's rounds at Estoril and Spa, with two wins to his name.

While rookie Vitor Baptista has driven the Italian team's #22 car all season, the #21 car has seen four driver changes, with Aitken being the fifth to be in it.

The 2015 Eurocup and Alps champion had tested the 3.5 machinery in the post-season testing last year in December with Fortec and Arden.
