ISR Racing keeps living the dream

ISR Racing experienced another outstanding day at Brno, in the Czech round of the World Series Renault 3.5. On qualifying 2, things went on the same way of the first session, as Filip Salaquarda cruised to his second straight pole in front of team-mate Esteban Guerrieri. Then on Race 2, the Argentinean took his third win of the season, while Salaquarda scored his first WSR podium finish, enough to forget his Race 1 mistake.

The Czech clocked the fastest lap of the day on Qualifying, running in 1:41.013 and edging his team- mate's 1:41.144. The team, owned by Igor Salaquarda, dominated the session, as the third running driver was more than half a second off the pole time. At the start of Race 2, Salaquarda was caught out by wheelspin, and allowed Guerrieri to take the lead. He pushed really hard since the beginning, while Salaquarda kept 2nd place for a while. Despite a perfect start though, he lost one spot to Berthon during the pit-stop phase. The Frenchman also pressured Guerrieri, who performed without an hitch. Salaquarda also won a battle with attacking Walter Grubmuller for third.

Igor Salaquarda, Team Principal

"It's been a fabulous weekend. We got two wins with Esteban and two poles with Filip, monopolizing the front row on both races, and then we scored another podium finish with Filip on Race 2. I can't really ask more from our outing at Brno. In a really short time, we managed to become one of the teams fighting for title, despite being at our first season. I want to thank our technicians, mechanics, drivers, as they've done a sensational job, and all the people who enabled ISR to join the World Series Renault. Now we have to stay focused, avoiding to get lost in celebrations, and look towards the upcoming round of the series, starting at Magny-Cours in two weeks."

Esteban Guerrieri

"Two wins in two days... my head's spinning! If I only think about missing Monte Carlo, and that two months I had no chance to race open-wheel cars... I feel like I'm on the moon. Thanks to the trust Igor Salaquarda put in me, I have three wins and I'm running in third place in standings, just 7 points off Aleshin. I'm the only Argentinean driver racing in Europe, I hope this will help me to find a sponsor."

Filip Salaquarda

"I really wanted to end up on the podium after the mistake suffered on Race 1, and I did it. My start hasn't been perfect, I just followed Guerrieri and tried to avoid mistakes. During the pit-stop window I found myself behind Berthon, in third. The first laps after pitting weren't easy as I had to defend myself from Grubmuller. After a while, I managed to pull away and started breathing again. Two poles, and one podium, that's a good balance for the Brno round".
