An unforgettable day
An almost perfect march, in qualifying and during the race. An unforgettable day, the one experienced by ISR Racing today, Saturday June 52010. The Prague-based team swept the front row at home, in the fourth round of this season's World Series Renault, by taking the pole spot with Filip Salaquarda and a front-row position for Esteban Guerrieri. Then, the Argentinean dominated the race from flag to flag, taking his second win over 6 races entered so far.
Salaquarda had a disappointing day, as while running in 2nd, he ended up too long in the gravel trap of T1, on just the second lap of the day. He was then forced to the back of the pack, and ended up in 15th. "I thought I was living a dream told Team Principal Igor Salaquarda I pinched myself and realized it was all true. It was the first time, in both F.3 and F.Master, to have both cars on the front row. Guerrieri raced as a champion, while I'm sorry for Filip and the mistake he made. Unfortunately, he had a huge pressure on his shoulders. It was his first pole, on his own race, in front of a lot of spectators cheering for him. His great qualifying run is still a huge confirmation of what he can do. Now we're focusing on Qualifying 2 and on Race 2, with mandatory pit-stops. We'll try to repeat the dream..."
Guerrieri is at his second win of the season, after the one scored at Spa with wet weather: "being back to victory is incredible, I started a little bit better than Filip, I pulled alongside him on the straight, and then I was on a more favorable position for T1. The car was really perfect, and I led a relatively calm race from start to finish. I'm sorry to have seen Filip running off in my mirrors on the following lap, but I'm sure he'll be back for race 2."
Salaquarda moved from the joy for his first pole in the series to the disappointing ending of the race. "In qualifying, I turned the best lap of my career, and I think it was really tough to do better. At the start, Esteban was incredibly fast and pulled alongside me. It wasn't a big deal, I started following him, but then I missed the braking point on the following lap, and paying an high price for the mistake.
Guerrieri is now laying in 5th place overall in standings the top-5: 1.Aleshin 50; 2.Ricciardo 43; 3.Pentus 37; 4.Hartley 35; 5.Guerrieri 30.
