A scare for Marciello at Imola. Maisano wins Race 2

Maranello, 4 July -- Another exciting day for the young drivers of the Ferrari Driver Academy, in action this weekend in Budapest and Imola.

At the Hungaroring circuit, Daniel Zampieri took fourth place in Race 2, at the sixth round of the World Series 3.5 Championship. The young prospect from the Ferrari Driver Academy was one of the front runners on the twisty Hungarian track, where victory went to Sten Pentus (Fortec Motorsport) who took the flag ahead of Albert Costa (Epsilon Euskada) and Mikhail Aleshin (Carlin.)

The Dino e Enzo Ferrari circuit at Imola was hosting the third round of this season's Formula Aci-Csai Abarth series, with two races. The final result of Race 1 was very much affected by the corrected grid established after the stewards had handed out penalties at the end of Friday's qualifying, not to mention a spectacular accident which involved Raffaele Marciello in the opening three laps. The JD Motorsport runner, had been squeezed by Maxim Zimin (Zenzer Motorsport) at Rivazza, clipped the Russian's car and flew into the air, before rolling several times, as everyone in the paddock held their breath. Fortunately, the Ferrari Driver Academy student emerged unhurt from the crash, although his car was badly damaged, which meant he could not take part in Race 2. The first race was won by Riccardo Agostini (Prema Junior) who crossed the line ahead of the other Ferrari Driver Academy entrant, Brandon Maisano (BVM/Target) followed by Roman De Beer (Scuderia Victoria.) Maisano went on to triumph in Race 2, securing an important win, beating Riccardo Agostini (Prema Junior) and Kevin Gilardoni (Cram Competition.)

The World Series will be back in action at Germany's historic Hockenheim circuit, over the weekend of 5 September, while the Formula Abarth competitors take to the track at Varano on 28 and 29 August.
