Jersey, UK: James Walker's winter test programme got underway at the Paul Ricard circuit in Southern France last week. The Jersey racer drove for two World Series teams as he evaluates his options for 2009.

On Thursday James was driving for Ultimate-Signature, the team that won the last race of the 2008 season with Esteban Guerrieri.

"Ultimate are a very good team," said James. "They are a relatively new team but the people involved have massive amounts of experience so the level of professionalism was great to experience. I was very happy as I was immediately fast in the dry, running on old tyres, so it was a good test for me."

Friday saw James switch over to P1 Motorsport, the team headed by the much-respected Roly Vincini that won the drivers title in 2008 with Giedo Van Der Garde.

"We sat out the first half hour on Friday morning as the track was still damp from some overnight rain," explained James. "When I went out I was no.1 straight away which was great. Throughout the morning the track got quicker and quicker and I was pleased that every time I was on circuit I set the fastest time. I managed a 16.1 quite easily on new tyres at the end of the session and I was happy to get that in the bag as the rain came down again during the lunch break. We had a technical problem at the end of the day that delayed us a little so I only managed a few laps but I was still fourth fastest in the afternoon session, albeit with half the amount of running as the top three and a red flag on my fastest lap. All in all I am very happy with how the test has gone."

James is back at home now working hard to get a deal done for 2009. He has committed to staying in the World Series by Renault and his team for 2009 will be announced soon.
