Montagny fast in Magny Cours
Franck Montagny (Gabord Competición) has been the quickest driver in the Superfund World Series by Nissan Collective Tests held today in the partly new Magny Cours Circuit. Montagny, set his fastest lap in 1.28.152 (180.152 km/h), just one tenth of a second gap ahead Indian ace Kartikheyan (Tata Team Carlin) "There's more space for overtaking by the new modified chicane and even before that." The Finnish driver Kovalainen achieved an impressive 5th best-timed lap with just 30 minutes of working session. The engine of his car had to be replaced by the team at the beginning of the afternoon.
Stephane Sarrazin, third quickest, is really convinced that he's ready for a win in this decisive home race: "We want to go home with a real victory. The team has been working hard and the car looks awesome. The new layout will make no big difference in terms of times, but it enhances driving skills."
Enrique Bernoldi made the GD Team progress through the day, setting the 13th quickest lap of the day. "Tomorrow is the day that all starts, but so far, so good^Å"
The young French driver Mathieu Zangarelli has been the last driver to join the Superfund World Series by Nissan with the GD squad. A total of SEVEN French drivers are currently racing in this competitive single-seater Series. Zangarelli has made his first run in a Dallara Nissan car and found it "Enorme!" "The aerodynamics and the speed in the curves is really awesome. I'm sorry I could not take all the profit from my second set of new tyres, but I am not so disappointed. Bernoldi is obviously the best reference to catch up the gap with the other big guys."
