World Series steps in Magny Cours

Magny Cours, 29th August 2002 ? The World Series restart its activity after the summer brake, celebrating the 5th meeting at the Grand Prix Circuit of Nevers-Magny Cours. Jonathan Cochet will participate in his first Qualifying Sessions tomorrow (13h30 and 16h30). He was the fastest driver during the tests celebrated last week in French venue after lapping 1.25.764.

The Brazilian driver Ricardo Zonta (Gabord Competicion), the current leader of the Series with 124 points, will have to work hard if he wants to keep his advantage from the Belgian Bas Leinders and the reigning French Champion, Franck Montagny.

The Austrian driver Walter Lechner Jr will also participate for the first time in a World Series meeting, after signing a deal with Zele Motorsport. Lechner will mate the Argentinian Nicolas Filiberti.

The Telefonica World Series Dallara Nissan cars will race at Magny Cours with the new powershift system. Former F3000 driver Justin Wilson said organisers took the right decision: "The driving is much nicer now. We tested this system last week during the Collective Tests and it was very successful."

On the other hand, Montagny's engine has reached the 5500-km limit for 1st. Revision. It is a real success for the Nissan and AR technicians.

BOBBI has topped the times at the first Free Practice session of Formula Nissan 2000 lapping 1.34.490. Borja Garcia has been the second fastest driver. It's been a good debut for the Spaniard at the Venturini Italian Team. The Repsol drivers, Porteiro and Pino followed the on the list. Emilio de Villota Jr., son of the former F1 driver, has been 15th in his first Coloni Nissan drive. Mathias Lauda perform very well with the Epsilon by Graff French Team, achieving the 8th fastest time.
