ANOTHER PODIUM FOR A GREAT COLETTI AT MAGNY COURS

Third podium this season in the World Series for Stefano Coletti, author of a thrilling performance in race one at Magny Cours.

Eleventh in qualifying one, the driver from Monaco has been author of a sensational first lap in race one and he managed to recover eight positions on the asphalt made wet by the rain. Third at the end of the first lap, after a duel with Panciatici (Junior Lotus Racing), to defend his position Coletti also tried to attack Esteban Guerreri (ISR) in the finale in a battle for the second place, without finding the right occasion before the chequered flag.

The outcome of race two was decided for the driver of team Comtec at the starting grid, that saw him starting sixth. The rain that forced all drivers to wear rain tyres stopped five minutes after the green light: some teams decided to swap to slick tyres and accept the drive through imposed by rule for an intervention on the single seater after the allowed time, while some others, like Coletti's car opted for keeping rain tyres. The weather awarded the first option forcing the young driver from Monaco to a defensive race ended in seventh position.

The classification sees now Mikhail Aleshin (Carlin) at the lead with 75 points; Ricciardo (66), Guerrieri (58), Pentus (44) and Berthon (43) follow. Coletti is currently sixth at 42.

Stefano Coletti:
"The first lap of race one was really exciting and I was almost amazed when they showed me the position 'P3' from the pit wall. In the last few kilometers the second place seemed to be at my reach but I did not have a real occasion to try an attack.

"Race two was a bet that we unfortunately lost: we decided to go for the rain and in the first laps of the race I hoped to see some rain drops on my visor; the tarmac got drier and drier quite quickly instead and after a few laps I already had accumulated a disadvantage of nearly fifty seconds from the drivers who decided to use slick tyres and this ended any chance of a recovery".

The World Series by Renault 3.5 will be back on track next 4 July at Budapest.
