Narain Kartikheyan tops the times in Magny Cours

World Series by Nissan 2004 - 3rd Meeting-Magny Cours - 20 May 2004

The Indian ace Narain Kartiheyan (RC Motorsport) has profited a sunny and hot day to set the fastest lap time (1.29.653) during the collective test celebrated in Magny Cours (France). But the French "Armada" was in a spotlight this morning with Jouanny on top of the times, followed by Gommendy, Ravier and Olivier Pla, in his new Carlin Motorsport Dallara Nissan car.

The World Series by Nissan Teams had been working hard in order to prepare the third meeting that will take place this weekend. Tiago Monteiro and Enrique Bernodi, currently in P1 and P2 in the provisional standings, were not just giving a brake to their contenders, but they both watched the second session from the garage.

The Portuguese's car took fire at the beginning of Session 1 due to a fuel leak and the Team Carlin Motorsport had to repair the car, obviously quite damaged in the engine area. "It is hot in Magny Cours but believe me, it was hotter in my car this morning, when I arrived at the garage." Said Monteiro. Bernoldi's car had a failure in the fuel pump, so he did not took part in the second session: "I thought that I could improve some things in the car and then I found my hopes stopped by this mechanical thing. Tomorrow we will have to work".

The French "Armada" taking part in this Series had his best representative in Bruce Jouanny, allowing the KTR Team to find itself on top positions again. The Belgian is doing a good progress, so they are in Epsilon Euskadi. The Team is smartly commanded by Michael Leconte and Joan Villadelprat, and today Ravier was third in both Sessions. Vilariño was fourth in the second one.

The World Series Light category had two long testing sessions as well placing with the Vergani Formula driver Milos Pavlovic setting the quickest lap of the Dallara AER cars. Marzi's Team is involved in the RPM Racing series since the year 1999. But the level of the remaining teams is quite high as well, and Pellegrino, Abadie and Miguez (the quickest driver in the 1st session) are highly rated as the possible 2004 Title winners.
