The Israeli driver survived a small twitch off the line, which gave front-row starter Pietro Fittipaldi the lead but only briefly as the Brazilian braked late into Turn 1.

As a result, the Fortec driver cut the first chicane and his car picked up a cone, which remained stuck throughout the entire race, slowing him down.

Lotus driver Nissany retook the lead ahead of a fast-starting Matthieu Vaxiviere, who made up five places in the first corner.

But the SMP driver couldn’t hold on to second for long as Renault Academy driver Deletraz caught him and took the place on the start/finish line.

With Nissany and Deletraz ahead by a long margin, Vaxiviere had Arden's Aurelien Panis and a recovering Rene Binder in his mirrors in the fight for third.

But this time the French driver was able to stretch out a gap, leaving Panis to defend hard from Binder, who had lost three spots at the start after a poor getaway.

The Austrian driver had dispatched Fittipaldi for fifth and set his sights on Panis, managing to get ahead on Lap 20, only to lose the place again in couple of corners.

In the meantime, Nissany remained unchallenged to take his third win of the season with Deletraz finishing second.

Vaxiviere completed the podium with Panis managing to hold off Binder for fourth by 0.434s in the end.

Teo Martin’s Yu Kanamaru had a rather subdued race in sixth ahead of Egor Orudzhev, who survived a first-lap spin and passed Fittipaldi to slot in behind Beitske Visser. Visser then spun out on the last lap, giving seventh to the Russian.

It was disappointment for Visser, who looked secured for a top seven finish until the incident, having earlier won out in a fierce battle Tom Dilmann and Orudzhev.

RP Motorsport’s Vitor Baptista and Force India development driver Alfonso Celis Jr. completed the top 10, having overtaken Fittipaldi towards the end of the race.

Meanwhile, points leader Dillmann, after managing only ninth in qualifying, dropped to last after the opening lap.

The AVF driver clawed back to ninth, but then suffered a right-rear puncture and was forced to pit. He eventually ended 12th and out of points.
