THE TELEFÓNICA WORLD SERIES TRAVEL TO BRAZIL

Barcelona, 21st November 2002 In the early morning a Boeing C-10 from the Brazilian company Varig took-off from the Barcelona's Cargo Terminal destination Sao Paulo (Brazil), carrying the 20 single-seaters from the International FIA Series Telefónica World Series by Nissan, created and managed by the Spanish company RPM Racing.

A total fleet of 60,000 kg among single-seaters, spares parts and tyres will arrive tonight at Sao Paulo.

The two last meetings from the Telefónica World Series by Nissan, the most important single-seater European championship, after the Formula 1, will take place the next 1st of December in Curitiba and 8th of December in Interlagos (Sao Paulo).

The Brazilian former Formula 1 driver, Ricardo Zonta, was officially proclaimed Champion of the World Series in the prior meeting held in the Circuit of Valencia, defending Football Club Barcelona's colours with his Spanish-based squad Gabord Competición.

For Zonta, the pre-final meeting of the championship in Curitiba, his home-town race, and the last one in Sao Paulo, will represent one of the biggest events of his sportive life, when he shows off the brilliant Title to his compatriots. More than 70,000 people are expected to attend each meeting.

The vice-Championship will be disputed between the French driver Franck Montagny, who is highly rated to be designed as the next RenaultF1 test driver the next December, and the Belgian Bas Leinders.

With the exception of the Formula 1 and the MotoGP Championships, none of the European motoring event has ever flight overseas to finish an officially regulated calendar by the FIA.
