Valencia, 16 October 2003 Tomorrow starts in Valencia ( Circuito de la Comunidad Valenciana ) the 8th meeting puntuable of the Superfund World Series by Nissan. It will be the prior to the last meeting valid for the 450 HP category. Franck Montagny (Gabord Commpeticion), third driver of RenaultF1, took the championship in Barcelona, but 6 drivers and 3 teams will battle for the final podium positions.
The local team Adrian Campos Motorsport, Felix Porteiro in KTR, and the team Escuela Lois Circuit participanting in the World Series Light and the Campeonato de España de Formula Junior, have the best single-seater drivers of Valencia taking part in this Series. They will represent this weekend the colours of the Comunidad Valenciana. Next Sunday, the authorities of this Autonomic Region of Spain as well as the representatives of the Circuit will homage the former F1 driver Adrian Campos. The fomer Minardi driver will have his own curve in the Ricardo Tormo venue. Unfortunately, Alonso, winner of the 99 edition in the Formula Nissan, will be in Rusia with due to some marketing duties with his Formula One Team.
GUY SMITH TO RACE WITH ZELE-RACING
British top driver Guy Smith has signed an agreement with the Austrian team Zele-Racing to race in the Superfund World Series by Nissan. The winner of the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans will have his first contact with the Dallara Nissan car tomorrow during Private Practice. His former engineer in the Indy Lights, Harvey Spencer, will be back in duty again with him as he joined the Team this year. Both achieve to take third position in the American Series in 1998. "I came to race against the best guys. This Series are very competitive and we know that this will be a real challenge. The car looks really sexy to me, it looks like a proper competition car and I know how difficult will be to be in the 10 first positions. When you see how people can improve their careers, like Alonso, Gene or now, Montagny, you see how good it must be to race here. You race against the best. How all these good drivers have came to the same place--Having said that, three years out of the s-s experience it may look risky, but it looks to me the right time to be back!".
Not an easy weekend for Guy, as 6 top drivers still in fight for the Series, including Teams Gabord Competition, Racing Engineering, Carlin and Epsilon Euskadi for the Title's.
"FLYING JUAN", LEADER IN THE WORLD SERIES LIGHT
The Argentinian driver Juan Cruz Alvarez arrives at Valencia with the leadership of the all-new Series of 250 HP. Six points behind is Julien Vidot (Epsilon by Graff) and the local hero Adrian Valles, former leader before Barcelona, is just 12 points behind. Juan Cruz Álvarez will be the youngest driver to take a drive in the Dallara Nissan car next 20 of October testing for Gabord Competicion. One year older than him, Marko Asmer, Estonia, will drive with Saulnier Racing. But Juan Cruz Alvarez will have to fight seriously for the leadership against the drivers of the World Series Light. The Series will celebrate another meeting in Albacete the next 2nd of November, including another meeting of the Spanish Formula Junior Championship.
JUAN ANTONIO DEL PINO DEFENDS HIS LEADERSHIP IN VALENCIA
