TANDERSPORT READY FOR SYMMONS PLAINS SHOWDOWN
AUSTRALIAN DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP contenders TanderSport have every piece of the puzzle in place to give them the best shot at a Formula 3 title challenge at Symmons Plains Raceway, in Tasmania, this weekend.
The team will be pushing for double success at the Tasmanian racetrack with Leanne Tander going for the title and National class drivers Ben Crighton and Mathew Radisich both looking to build on their stunning speed this season to break through for a class win.
Whilst motivation was never in short supply, a stunning win from co-owner and team manager Garth Tander in the weekends' L&H 500 V8 Supercar race at Phillip Island - coupled with Leanne's stunning pace at Symmons last year - will offer plenty of positive vibes within the team.
Win or not, TanderSport's 2008 season has been the best ever in its short three-year history.
In the 13 races so far the team has won four and stood on the outright podium a total of eight times, also adding five pole positions and two best laps to the tally. The teams' National Class campaign has also delivered results with eight podium finishes and two pole positions.
Between all three cars TanderSport has started more than 30 races this year and has only had one mechanically-induced DNF, caused when Ben Crighton's car broke an axle at Phillip Island. It was the first - and remains the only - Mechanically related DNF in the teams' history.
The team has every reason to head to the tricky Symmons Plains circuit feeling confident about the performance of their cars ‘out of the box'.
Tander was one of the fastest cars on track last season and twice finished second, enduring that Radisich and Crighton will have an excellent setup for their F304 Dallara's to work with this weekend. That speed will also serve as an excellent setup starting point for the F307 car that has always been adapted to the new tracks quickly in it's first year on local circuits.
TanderSport enter the final round 2nd in the Australian Drivers Championship, one point behind the leader, and third (Radisich) and fourth (Crighton) in the F3 National Class.
Practice gets underway on Friday with two races, including the 30-lap season ending Country Club Tasmania Formula 3 SuperPrix, to be held on Sunday September 21.

Leanne Tander - #42 TanderSport Dallara F307 Mercedes - Benz (174 Points, 2nd)
"I am happy with season 2008. After round two of the championship I honestly thought that we would be out of it and wouldn't have a chance. From there the season turned from a championship challenge to going out and trying to win as many races as possible and get as high up the leader board as we could. I think it's fair to say that has exceeded expectations!
"It's a testament to TanderSport as a team with the way that they have worked this season. They have never given up and have always improved and always continued to try as hard as possible. It's been great to see how it's evolved into a cohesive, professional organisation.
"They have gotten on with the job of winning which has put us in the position we are now - one point behind the leader with one round to go. Win or loose it's been a fantastic season."
Mathew Radisich - #32 TanderSport / HT Leads Dallara F304 Spiess Opel (78 Points, 3rd in National Class)
"We have had the speed all season and it's time that we converted it to results, so I'm really looking forward to doing that in Tasmania. TanderSport had a fast car there last year so we know that we can be quick. Hopefully things go our way for once during a race and we can have a good result to end the championship!"
Ben Crighton - #52 TanderSport Dallara F304 Spiess Opel (62 Points, 4th in National Class)
"I am really looking forward to going to Tasmania and getting back in the seat. Although Phillip Island seems like so long ago my performance there was below average and I can't wait to set the record straight. I have been watching some incar footage to familiarise myself with the circuit as best I can. Given the relatively short lap I expect the timesheets to be very tight so I am looking forward to the challenge!"
Garth Tander - Team co-owner / Team Manager
"It's great to be in the hunt for the championship given the start of the season we had. As a team we are really looking forward to the challenge and looking forward to Symmons Plains. Leanne had great speed there last season and we're confident that we will have that again this time around.
"Ben and Mathew showed, in trying conditions, that they had the pace at Phillip Island and did a fantastic job. I think Symmons Plains will be the place where their speed is rewarded with great results that they deserve."
