TEAM BRM FORCED TO WITHDRAW CLUCAS FROM ORAN PARK

Team BRM are today forced to announce their unfortunate withdrawal from the final round of the 2006 Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship, to be held this weekend at Oran Park Raceway in Sydney.

The team had originally entered the championship-winning #84 Gawler Farm Machinery Dallara F304 -- Spiess for driver Ben Clucas, however the late arrival of some crucial parts needed for the car's preparation have forced the team to withdraw the entry.

A replacement clutch only arrived at the team's Adelaide workshop today and the team could not ensure its total reliability at this weekend's event, a situation that could have tarnished Clucas' excellent record of 11 race wins from 12 starts this season.

"As much as we would have loved to go to Oran Park to cap off Ben's championship year, it just didn't make sense when we couldn't guarantee the total reliability of the car with this unproven part," Explained Team BRM owner Bronte Rundle.

"It's unfortunate but we weren't prepared to risk Ben's excellent strike rate and achievements this year by ending his season on a potentially sour note. Without the budget, and especially time, to test prior to the event we felt that pulling out from the round was the only option available to us.

"It is disappointing for the team, and for Ben, because we love to compete, and had we been able to, we're confident that Ben would have been right up the front as always." He said.

Team owner Bronte Rundle, engineer Marcus Koch, Race Mechanic Damien Allen and Clucas will make the trip to Oran Park, however, to take part in the series' presentation dinner Sunday night.

Team BRM is also pleased to note the 17-car entry for the Oran Park Round and the crew are looking forward to watching a strong round to cap off the championship season.

The team will also run a trio of Formula Fords in the final round of the 2006 South Australian State Formula Ford Championship the same weekend.

With the 2006 Formula 3 championship year almost complete, the team is now turning it's attention to the 2007 season and has drives available in it's championship winning Dallara F304 -- Spiess entries with testing available commencing immediately.
