Edoardo Piscopo scores dominant double win at Mugello

Edoardo Piscopo experienced a dominant weekend at Mugello, in the first 2008 round of the renewed Italian Formula 3 Championship. The 20-year-old driver from Rome left his mark on the event since qualifying, as he swept the pole spot with a laptime of 1:43.959. The history of the two races was pretty much the same: Piscopo easily took the lead and started to progressively increase his advantage until the end, topping Mirko Bortolotti on Race 1 and Belgian Nico Verdonck on Race 2. Piscopo was back to F.3 racing after entering last season's Euro Series. He then joined the A1GP, starting as a rookie and moving up to the main role in the second half of the season.

"We can really say we had a great weekend at Mugello, though I don't see it staying that easy in the immediate future. The series has good drivers like Verdonck, who didn't have many chances to test, that might become tough rivals. It was a nice weekend, and I even tried to help my younger team-mates thanks to my Euro Seres and A1GP experience. I hope to continue the same way at Magione...".
