Hockenheim, preview: an uncommon stage for the Italian Formula 3 Championship

The Italian Formula 3 is back on track this weekend at Hockenheim, in Germany, for the second round of the season.

The idea to run some races abroad in high level circuits was proposed last year by the teams of the F3Italia Teams Alliance and was promptly welcomed with interest by CSAI, constantly involved with the growth of the championship.

Negotiations undergone successfully during winter will take drivers from tomorrow to challenge themselves on a track that in a little more than a month will house Formula One, an important experience for a series constantly increasing its technical content.

The season opener at Misano at the end of April was partially conditioned by the rain and this is a fact that increases the interest on the German event whereby the real values on the field should emerge. Spotlights will be on Andrea Caldarelli (Prema Junior), current classification leader and on his closest follower Christopher Zanella (JD Motorsport), in a duel seeing the confrontation of single seaters built by Dallara and Mygale.

Tom Dillman, the other driver standing in second position, who is also probably destined to lose the only point advantage on Cesar Ramos (BVM-Target) and Stephane Richelmi (Lucidi Motors), will not be on track.

Among the rookies, Kevin Giovesi, moved from the ruling champion team BVM-Target to JD Motorsport, will have to defend himself from the attacks of Gabriel Chaves (Eurointernational) and Gianmarco Raimondo (Lucidi Motors), but several other young drivers will be ready to shine from qualifying.

On drivers lineup novelties, the arrival of four rookies is worth mentioning: namely, Tyler Dueck to BVM-Target, Nelson Mason to Team Ghizani, Matteo Beretta to TP Formula and Vittorio Ghirelli to Eurointernational.
