Imola, preview: the title fight getting to the heart of the season
A few hours are left before the first free practice session that will open tomorrow at Imola the third round of the Italian Formula 3 2010 Championship.
The title fight is more open than ever, five drivers are in fact contained within eight points. Spotlights will be certainly on the current classification leader Daniel Mancinelli (Team Ghinzani), absolute protagonist at Hockenheim with a victory and a second place. High expectfiaions also for Andrea Caldarelli (Prema Junior), second at two points and for Cesar Ramos (BVM-Target), Christopher Zanella (JD Motorsport) and Stephane Richelmi (Lucidi Motors), all these drivers will certainly be able to fight for the victory.
Among the rookies, Kevin Giovesi (JD Motorsport) will try the first sprint on his closest rivals Gabby Chaves (Eurointernational) and Gianmarco Raimondo (Lucidi Motors), without underestimating the winner of the latest Formula Azzurra's title Alberto Cerqui (Ombra Racing).
Some comments at the eve follow:
Alberto Cerqui (Ombra Racing):
"Last week we run some tests at Franciacorta and we obtained some encouraging results; the same feeling that last year took me easily to find the limit in Formula Azzurra is now starting to grow with this single seater. After Hockenheim I also intensified the gym work to be ready to face summer temperatures; Imola is my favourite track and I hope to achieve a good result. Finishing among the first five would be a great result and this is the goal I'd like to achieve to make my season turn the corner".
Gianmarco Raimondo (Lucidi Motors):
"My main target is gonna be recovering the gap of fifteen points that I currently have from the rookies0 classification leader. Imola is a track that I like and we have already done several positive tests here: I believe there are going to be quite a few chances of overtaking and races will most likely be thrilling".
