Imola, qualifying: pole position for Mancinelli in front of Ramos and Vervish

03/07/2010 - Qualifying at Imola confirmed the optimal shape of Daniel Mancinelli (Team Ghinzani), author today of the pole position after the victory and the second place scored at Hockenheim three weeks ago. At the back of the current leader of the championship were Cesar Ramos (BVM-Target), followed by Frederic Vervisch (RC Motorsport).

Fourth and fifth place for the couple of team Lucidi Motors composed by Stephane Richelmi and Sergio Campana, while Jesse Krohn (RP Motorsport) confirmed himself among the protagonists in sixth place. The top eight was completed by Andrea Caldarelli and Edoardo Liberati, that due to inversion of the first eight in classification will start race two from a full Prema Junior first row.

Among the rookies, best time for Kevin Giovesi (JD Motorsport), absolute eleventh, in front of the couple of of Ombra Racing team Alberto Cerqui and Giacomo Barri.

The comments of the protagonists follow:

Daniel Mancinelli (Team Ghinzani): "Working with Piercarlo Ghinzani is estremely formative and results show this widely. He is incredible, putting together the experience of driver and that of team manager, his advices turn out to be always correct; we are still in the first stages of the season by the results of Hockenheim, together with the pole position scored today, make us hopeful to fight for the title until the last race".

Andrea Caldarelli (Prema Junior): "This has been quite a difficult qualifying for me; tomorrow I will have to run a recovery race one to aim at the victory of race two".

Alberto Cerqui (Ombra Racing): "I am definitely satisfied: the twelfth time, second of the rookies, takes me closer to the objective to get constantly into points. Our progress are constant and I hope that we will manage to get two useful results for the classification".

The event's programme will end tomorrow with the two races that will start at 11.00 and 18.30 local time, with live TV coverage on Nuvolari (SKY 218 and freeview).
