Misano, race two: first victory for Stephane Richelmi

25/04/2010 - First seasonal success for Stephane Richelmi (Lucidi Motors, Dallara F310 - FPT Racing) in the second race of the opening round of the Italian Formula 3 Championship at Misano. The driver from Monaco, started from the pole position thanks to the inversion of the first eight of qualifying, led race one from the first to the last lap; at his back, Tom Dilmann (Scuderia Victoria World, Mygale M10 - FPT Racing) and Cesar Ramos (BVM-Target, Dallara F310 - FPT Racing).

Into the points also Andrea Caldarelli (Prema Junior), winner of race one, Christopher Zanella (JD Motorsport), Daniel Mancinelli (Team Ghizani), Frederic Vervish (RC Motorsport), Jesse Krohn (RP Motorsport), Kevin Giovesi (BVM-Target) and Edoardo Liberati (Prema Junior) .

Caldarelli is at the moment at the lead of the absolute classification with 28 points, followed by Zanella (22), Dilmann (22), Richelmi (21) and Ramos (21). Among rookies, Giovesi (33) gets the leadership in front of Chaves (24) and Raimondo (23).

The comment of protagonists follows:

Grazia Troncon (Prema Junior, Team Manager): "Caldarelli's experience played a crucial role in a weekend characterized by changing weather conditions. His present leadership in the classification is a good starting point but we are aware of the value of opponents that at Misano had some difficulties. Qualifying had an impact on Buttarelli and Liberati's final result instead".

Roberto Cavallari (JD Motorsport, Team Principal): "This was the debut weekend for us in the Italian Formula 3 championship after lapping probably less than other teams during winter tests. Despite of this, our Mygale turned out to be competitive since Friday and Zanella has been an almost perfect interpreter: the title fight is gonna be definitely tight and we are quite satisfied for starting on the right foot".

Dario Caso (Scuderia Victoria World, Team Principal): "A fortnight ago we would have difficultly thought to get on the podium in the debut weekend. I think that it was almost impossible to do better and the second place of the classification is a further satisfaction at the end of a weekend more than positive for us".

Gabriele Lucidi (Lucidi Motors, Team Principal): "Richelmi obtained important points for the classification thanks to the victory in race two, after the fifth place in race one. Qualifying spoiled unavoidably Campana's weekend which concluded in advance due to a contact in race two, while Raimondo concluded both races with a good performance for a rookie".

Giuseppe Mazzotti (BVM-Target, Team Manager): "We started the season in the best possible way: Ramos has been twice on the podium with two performances that allowed him to get in the important positions of the classification. Giovesi has been fast since qualifying and we are satisfied about his leadership in the rookies' trophy".

The Italian Formula 3 championship will be back on track next 13 June at Hockenheim in Germany.
