Sting in the tail, Zampieri wins

Zampieri tries to pull away in the classification with 69 points, followed by Campos-Hull (57), Campana (56) and Zipoli (53). The weekend's programme will come to its end tomorrow with the start of race two at 10.50 local time (live on Nuvolari, SKY 218). Francesco Castellacci will be starting from the pole position thanks to the sixth place obtained today.

20/06/2009 - Surprising finale at Mugello: at the beginning of the last lap the outcome of the race seemed to be defined with the poleman Sergio Campana (Lucidi Motors) leading from Daniel Zampieri (BVM-Target) and Marco Zipoli (Team Ghinzani). With just a few kilometres to go, an error at turn one forced the race leader out on the run off and to content himself of the fifth place.

This concretized an unhoped victory for Zampieri, as was the third place on the podium for Pablo Sanchez Lopez (Alan Racing Team).

Both Prema Powerteam drivers got into the points with Daniel Campos Hull fourth and Francesco Castellacci sixth; good debut in the championship for Stephane Richelmi (RC Motorsport), seventh followed by Edoardo Liberati (BVM Target) and by the other two drivers of Lucidi Motors

Francesco Prandi and Giovanni Nava, finishing the top ten. Just two driver did not conclude the race: Stefanos Kamitsakis (RC Motorsport) decided to retire after a double penalty given by stewards while Salvatore Cicatelli (Corbetta Competizioni) did not begin the race.
