Vallelunga is ready to house the sixth round of a tight title fight

The Italian Formula 3 Championship will be back on track this weekend at Vallelunga for the sixth round of the season.

The fight for the absolute title is getting to the heart with Cesar Ramos (BVM-Target) leading the classification with 103 points. The advantage of the Brazilian driver is very small as Stephane Richelmi (Lucidi Motors) is second at 99 points, Daniel Mancinelli (Team Ghinzani) third at 98 and Andrea Caldarelli (Prema Junior) at 91.

In the rookies title fight, the battle between Kevin Giovesi (JD Motorsport, 137 points) and Gabriel Chaves (Eurointernational, 132 points) continues with the two drivers driving a Mygale and with just 5 points between them. Gianmarco Raimondo (Lucidi Motors), currently third at 82 points can take part in the title fight too.

Some drivers movements have to be signalled: Samuele Buttarelli joined Team Ghinzani, while the Argentine Facundo Ragalia moved to Prema Junior and Edolo Ghirelli to BVM-Target, while Francesco Castellacci will return behind the wheel of one of the RC Motorsport owned Dallara.

Protagonists' comments follow:

Cesar Ramos (BVM-Target):
"Collective tests held last week turned out to be quite fruitful: we focused on the development of some solutions for the race without seeking the single lap performance, but we ended the day in a good position anyway. I believe we could fight for the title aiming to keep the classification leadership".

Daniel Mancinelli (Team Ghinzani):
"After the partially negative exit at Varano, we intend to get back on top at Vallelunga, whereby the team has always done well and where we tested quite a bit. In the championship we are quite close to the leader and our primary objective will be to get the leadership back".

Andrea Caldarelli (Prema Junior):
"The fastest time in collective tests made me quite hopeful for the weekend. We tested a good number of technical solutions out and decided those to experiment during Friday's free practice. This is gonna be an important weekend championship-wise and this motivates me more than ever".

Francesco Castellacci (RC Motorsport):
"The comeback at Vallelunga will bring high expectations for me as well as for RC Motorsport. The objective is to obtain my first podium in this season in such a way to prove all the potential that unfortunately, due to several technical problems, could not emerge from the first part of the season".

Gianmarco Raimondo (Lucidi Motors):
"Vallelunga is the Italian track I know better and I raced there in Formula 3 during 2009. I hope that this, together with the experience I acquired while working with the team throughout the season, could contribute to harvest a good result during the weekend to keep myself within the rookies title fight".

Alberto Cerqui (Ombra Racing):
"Vallelunga is a track whereby I have always managed to express myself at the highest levels and I am determined to confirm this in Formula 3 too. During last week's test we have done a good work on the car that makes me hopeful for the outcome of the weekend: my objective is to finish the season third of the rookies and in the race I will aim at obtaining the first victory of the rookies".
