Nico Rosberg - What might have been...

Nico Rosberg was leading the Macau Formula 3 race - and pulling away from second-placed Lewis Hamilton - when he crashed at the infamous Lisboa corner at the start of lap two. It was his only mistake of the four-day race meeting.

"I was surprised that I got caught out," said Nico. "Other drivers have said since the race that there was oil down, which explains why the car wouldn't turn in. I was pushing hard because I wanted to shake off Hamilton and get him out of my slip-stream."

Nico had taken the lead of the race at the start, after making a perfect get-away from second on the grid. He then demonstrated tremendous feel on cold tyres to pull out more than one second to Hamilton on the opening lap before the accident occurred.

Nico had been one of the fastest drivers throughout the Macau weekend and had qualified fourth in a chaotic qualifying session on Friday that was stopped several times due to accidents. In Saturday's qualification race he also made a very good start, moving up to third into the first corner and finishing the race second to Hamilton, which is how they lined up for today's 100km final.

"Of course it's frustrating to finish the race like this," said Nico. "But we've been very fast all weekend and I've learnt a lot. And it's always a pleasure to drive at Macau because it's such a challenging track. Thank you to my sponsors for their support, particularly Nokia, Dominator Yachts, Hugo Boss and Battery Energy Drink, and let's hope that we can set the record straight in Bahrain on 5 December."
