OLLIE IMPRESSES F3 TEAM IN FIRST TEST AT DONINGTON
British MSA Race Elite Academy driver Ollie Millroy impressed the members of Spanish Formula 3 team, Team West-Tec today at Donington Park, where he immediately adapted to the speed and handling of the car and posted a time of 1.03.2, which the team were delighted with. On an open test day, which made obtaining a clear lap difficult, the BMW Junior Development driver just got better and quicker every session and declared the day 'awesome'.
West-Tec Team boss John Miller said: "Ollie was certainly very fast, but also impressive technically as well as very pleasant to have around. He certainly made a very positive impact on all of the crew, which I think is vital. We would really want to sign a driver who can lead the team in 2009 and Ollie could just be that driver".
"What a great day I had at work today" said Ollie. "I really enjoyed driving the F3 car and felt at home in it almost immediately. I just got quicker and quicker every session and by the end of the day I felt very comfortable with the car and whenever I could get a clear lap I put in a quick time. The team and I worked well together, they were a good and professional bunch of guys and by the end of the day we were all more than happy with the way it went."
"No decision has been made on what I will be doing next year", said Ollie, "but I felt very much at home with the F3 car so it has to be an option, providing I can get in enough pre-championship testing and the right budget to place me with a top team".
"For the time being though my business with BMW is far from over because in a couple of weeks time I am racing at Mexico City in the Formula BMW World Final, with Kent based Motaworld Racing. This is a big one and if I win, I get an F1 test and hopefully a better chance of some financial help for 2009 so for now my priority is to get prepared and try and win it."
Ollie's next outing is this Sunday at The Race Way, Docklands where he is joining British Formula 1 winner, Johnny Herbert's team in The Johnny Herbert Karting challenge to raise money for charity.
