For Robert Doornbos the next race in Zandvoort on Sunday will be unlike any of the others. This time he will be racing under the attention of million people that will be coming for the traditional, annual, event of the Marlboro Masters. This year the Dutch driver will line on the starting grid at the wheel of a Dallara-Mugen #19, prepared by Team Ghinzani, white and red painted, as he is the Official Marlboro driver for the Masters.
Robert regards that the Marlboro Masters Zandvoort's race is not only as an opportunity to catch his first victory on an International appointment, that he considers to be one of the most exciting, but also as a chance to emerge and demonstrate what he is be able to. Dressing the Marlboro colours, then, gives him a further boost to well done. "I'm looking forward to face this important race" -- said Robert -- "I'm conscious that it is of prior importance for me to show a good performance and it is exactly what I'm going to!".
Before leaving for Zandvoort, Marlboro Official driver Doornbos tested at Nurburgring in order to set up his Dallara and check that everything was good on his car. "During the testing day we mainly worked on trying different solutions on my car and we got some quality information from the session" -- Robert commented after the test -- "I'm really satisfied with the job done and I'm very confident for the Marlboro Masters in Zandvoort. The car is really wonderful, in white and red colours; it seems to be a small Ferrari!! I'm looking forward to go to Zandvoort and have a good performance there. This year I want to finish at podium!".
In 2002 Marlboro Masters edition, Robert qualified 6th but was then eliminated in the warm-up by fellow Dutchman Stefan de Groot who hit Robert from behind and vanished any hope for a podium finish.
