Last Sunday, Oct 15, was the last round of International F3000 at Magny-Cours. Unfortunatelly a very bad crash occured to the Brasilian driver Marco Campos, 19 years old, at the Adelaide corner during the last lap. He was trying to pass italian Thomas Biaggi and they touched wheels. Marco went out and his cas turned upside down many times, also going against to a concrete wall. He had several bad injuries in his head and was rescued from the car in coma state. He is at the Lariboisiere Hospital, in Paris, and the doctors said he has irreversible brain damage and there are no noticiable brain activities. He had been kept alive by the machines since Sunday afternoon, but unfortunatelly died today afternoon, Oct 17.
Marco Campos was in his first year in F3000 together his countrymen Tarso Marques, Marcos Gueiros and Ricardo Rosset. He wanted to stay in F3000 next year to gain more experience and likely try a ride in F1 in '97.
