17 DRIVERS WILL RUN AT IMOLA: ITALIAN F3 FRONT RUNNER PICCINI WILL JOIN EURONOVA FOR HIS CHAMPIONSHIP DEBUT

IMOLA - The 4th round of F3000 Italian Trophy will take place in Imola Circuit this week, where today's F1 rising stars as Juan Pablo Montoya, Nick Heidfeld and World Championship leader Fernando Alonso have been taken their first international victories with the Lola B02/50 and B02/50 actually running in the top Italian single seater Championship.

In fact, in 2001 the Spaniard Fernando Alonso ran a thrilling season with the Team Astromega, which takes part in the Trophy with the driver Giacomo Ricci, actually in third position in the standings.

After the prestigious Brno appointment, the Championship records the greatest number of entries in Imola. Seventeen drivers will start for the race, thanks to the new entry Euronova Team, owned by the former F1 driver and F. 3000 International Champion Vincenzo Sospiri. Since its debut in the F. Renault 2000, the team has been showing its technical skills, bringing up young talented drivers, like Luca Filippi.

Vincenzo Sospiri: "I have taken the decision to entry in the F3000 Italian Trophy because of the high technical level of the championship, the tough competition between many professional teams and the opportunity to show the performance of Euronova in one of the top feeder category in Europe."

Euronova Lola B02/50 will be driven by Giacomo Piccini, who has shown a very good talent in his Italian F3 campaign.

Giacomo Piccini: "I an very pleased to join Euronova and to take the opportunity to show my performance in such a competitive Championship. The Lola B02/50 is a very powerful car and demanding a lot in term of technical approach and driving sensibility. I hope to battle for the podium, thanks to my new Team and the great experience of Vincenzo Sospiri."

After three races Luca Filippi leads the Drivers standings for Fisichella Motor Sport, ahead of Fabrizio Del Monte by only three points. The Italian duo is closely followed by Giacomo Ricci (Astromega Team), Juan C
