Update: After completing a sponsorship deal in the eleventh hour that would see Phil Giebler run in his fifth FIA/F-3000 race driving for Den Bla Avis in this weekend's round at Magny-Cours as part of the French Grand Prix...His shoulder injury from Monaco has once again shown up to spoil his efforts. Giebler originally had raised enough sponsorship to run in the past four events and attracted a new sponsor that would hopefully fund the balance of the season. Due to it's recent arrival, there was a concern that there would not be enough time to complete the deal in time for this weekend's event. A forty-eight hour marathon resulted in a deal in time for this morning's first practice round.

Upon entering the car, Phil's shoulder began to stiffen and became unresponsive. He had dislocated it during a visit to the wall at the swimming pool section of the Monaco circuit, five weeks ago while qualifying. The injury had sidelined him in lap one of the race when his shoulder "came apart" under load. After a four week period of therapy, he felt good enough to drive in last week's race in Germany...during the race, the car picked up a major vibration that transferred directly into his upper arms causing extreme pain and numbness. He managed to finish in ninth place and once again sought medical help. Although stiff, he felt capable of driving. Phil missed the morning practice session and worked with a physio. He attempted to qualify the car in the afternoon and simply could not fully use his left arm and had to drop out after twelve laps.

"I hope to be able to race tomorrow but have no idea if my shoulder will be up to the task...I'm ready to go but this has been the most agonizing and mysterious injury of my entire career. One moment I feel fine and the next my left arm just stops working. I'll return on Monday to work with the orthopedic specialist I've been seeing since the accident and sincerely hope to be 100% by Silverstone" stated Phil.
