Pole sitter, Dane Tom Kristensen had a wild crash in second lap at "Blanchimont", the fastest curve at Spa. His Lola suddenly broke out and was catapulted into the guardrails several times left and right. Argentine Emiliano Spataro while trying to avoid hitting the wreck, pushed Biagi's car into a collision with Davis Cook's Lola who got airborne and hit Biagi's helmet with a wheel. Both drivers sustained unhurt. Tom Kristensen broke down after climbing out of his wreck. Doctors later diagnosed several hard bruises only. The race was red flagged and the restart was stopped again because of two stalled cars, Oliver Tichy and Craig Lowndes. After the third start everything went perfect for Jason Watt's first win.
