CHALLENGING WEEKEND FOR PATRIZI IN SCOTLAND
Michael Patrizi has had a challenging weekend in Rounds 17 and 18 of the Formula BMW UK Championship at a wet Knockhill circuit in Scotland.
Patrizi endured a tough weekend in the conditions on a weekend the Australian would rather forget. Patrizi, however, is a young driver known for his strong attitude and will come away from such a demanding weekend a better driver.
Fresh from stunning success in his Champ Car Atlantic Championship debut in Canada, Patrizi was certainly hoping from a strong showing at Knockhill. Unfortunately things did not go well, and Patrizi qualified 11th and 17th for the two races respectively.
The races did not fair much better for the West Aussie, with spins in both races relegating him to a 15th place finish in the first race and a DNF in the second after climbing from 17th to 10th in the order. Patrizi remains eighth in the championship standings by virtue of his consistency throughout this year's championship.
Patrizi will now look forward and focus back on his North American duties in the Team Australia/Aussie Vineyards Atlantic, where he was an outstanding eighth on debut, before embarking on final two rounds of the Formula BMW UK Championship at Silverstone.
WHAT HE HAD TO SAY --
Michael Patrizi - #29 Motaworld Racing Formula BMW
"This was a horrible weekend," said Patrizi.
"Unfortunately we never had a car that was anywhere near fast enough all weekend. We were pushing for results but there is a limit to how hard you can push.
"It's really disappointing as I feel very much on top of my game and was really looking forward to a strong finish to the season. We still have the opportunity to do that at the final two races at Silverstone, so we will all be giving it everything we have for that weekend.
"I'm really looking forward to getting back to the United States with Team Australia. The Montreal weekend was a highlight for me and I am keen to repeat that result. Team Australia is a great operation and I'll be giving it everything I've got to help Simon Pagenaud and the whole Aussie Vineyards squad wrap up the Atlantic title at the awesome Road America circuit."
