"James Hinchcliffe has shot to become the first championship winner in FBMW USA competition"

TORONTO, ON. (September 8, 2004) Oakville, ON resident James Hinchcliffe (Franczak Enterprises / AIM Autosport / #56), is looking forward to the final event in the quest for the Formula BMW USA championship. The event will be held this coming weekend at the challenging Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterrey, CA. Sitting second in the series title hunt and trailing the leader by only seven points, this event will be a knock down drag out battle to crown the champion. Noted as one of the top Canadians moving up the motorsports ladder, Hinchcliffe will look to be victorious this weekend.

After having a successful season to date, the young Canadian pilot has been one of the most consistent drivers in the series. The Rookie has scored three race victories and is showing the motorsports world why he could be Canada's next open wheel star.

"I have been waiting for this weekend since my last victory three weeks ago" explained Hinchcliffe. "I want this championship and my AIM Autosport team deserves it. I know that it will be tough by I have faith in my guys and know that we can pull this off."

At the beginning of the season Hinchcliffe was awarded a $40,000 scholarship towards a the BMW series. After successfully beating out 60 other applicants, James was awarded one of the six prestigious scholarships. The multi-time karting champion is using the scholarship to its fullest as he currently leads the Rookie Cup Rookie of the Year standings.

Hinchcliffe will hit the track Friday morning for the first official test sessions of the weekend. Friday afternoon will bring qualifying with a race to be held on both Saturday and Sunday. Knowing the pressures, Hinchcliffe understands that he needs to successfully finish and beat his championship rival to walk away and be crowned as the premiere champion in the North American BMW series. "Everyone is asking 'how are you going to deal with the pressure of the championship in the last race?', and it's simple, I just have to approach this weekend as any other weekend and drive the best that I can. The rest will work itself out one way or another." Hinchcliffe added.
