Coletti takes both poles in Montreal

Montreal, Quebec, Canada - June 23, 2006-- Formula BMW Germany driver Stefano Coletti (EuroInternational) got off to the fastest start of the 29 competitors entered in the four Formula BMW USA rounds racing in support of the Canadian and United States Grands Prix. Besting the field in the single 30-minute session, the 17- year old from Monte Carlo, Monaco established a new Formula BMW USA qualifying record in scoring the pole position for both Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2006 Formula BMW USA championship today at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. With a 1:44.987 minute lap around the 2.709-mile track setting a new track record and taking the Round 5 pole, his second fastest lap of 1:45.365 minutes was good for the Round 6 pole.

Championship points leader Robert Wickens (Team Apex Racing USA) will line up next to Coletti in both races after recording laps of 1:45.556 and 1:45.629 minutes. It was the best qualifying effort of the season for the 17-year old from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Round 4 winner Matt Lee (Team Autotecnica) will start third in both races. Round 1 and 2 polesitter David Garza (EuroInternational) was back to his early qualifying form and will start fourth in Round 5 and eighth in Round 6. EuroInternational teammate Simona de Silvestro will start fifth in Round 5 and fourth in Round 6, to score her third and fourth top-five start of the year. Last year's polesitter Tobias Hegewald (Mosquito Motorsports), also making a guest appearance in Formula BMW USA for the four Rounds in support of Formula One, will start sixth in Round 5 and fifth in Round 6.

Following post-qualifying inspection Rookie Points leader Sebastian Saavedra's (Gelles Racing) times were disallowed and he will start both races from 26th - ahead of the three cars that did not post qualifying times.

The fastest Rookies in Round 5 & 6 qualifying were David Garza (P4), Jordan Dick (P9), Daniel Morad (P12), Maxime Pelletier (P18) and Joel Jackson (P20).

"The qualifying session was really nice and the circuit is great," said a delighted Coletti. "I never was on pole position in Germany and to score two pole positions here is really fantastic. I worked quite hard with my engineers and it was not easy. I pushed hard as the others were very close to me. My strategy for the two races is to pull away immediately and build a gap."

Wickens said, "I am really pleased with my results. It has been my best qualifying result so far this year and it is really good to start from second in front of the Formula One crowd and in front of Red Bull. The American series is very competitive and Stefano Coletti is a very good driver. My strategy for the races is to get a good start and try to lead every lap. The races are going to be very tough and hopefully there won't be too many safety car periods that I can go in front and hold off Stefano."

Lee said, "I am pretty happy that I am starting twice in the top three. We had some problems in the qualifying session. In the last five laps I had to come into the pits because I had some steering issues. I lost some time there, but otherwise I am really happy with my results and for my team. In the races I am hoping to move by Wickens and Coletti and bring the win home."

The Round 5 race is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning and the Round 6 contest is scheduled to start at 9:15 a.m. Sunday.
