Rob Bunker found an interesting way to tune up for a race -- entertaining a punk rock band. The teen driver offered to host Still Life Projector prior to a concert in New York on June 3. The band accepted and spent two days at Bunker's home in Bridgewater, N.J.

Following his musical foray, Bunker will head to Montreal for Formula BMW USA races on June 11 and 12. He will have high-powered company on the 4.361-kilometre (2.709-mile) Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, as the Formula One World Championship makes its annual stop in Canada.

"I've been to F1 events and I've been in the paddock, so the F1 experience itself isn't that new," Bunker said. "But the ability to race, to actually be down in the pits and say, 'Well, this is F1, but check us out. We're on our way up,' is something I'm looking forward to. Even if they came for F1, it will feel like a lot of fans came out for the BMW race."

Bunker is hoping to continue his progress in the No. 18 AIM Autosport Formula BMW FB2 car. Charting both car and driver performance, the team has developed a strategic plan to maximize their combined power.

"We're trying to figure out how to make the car and me work at our best. We're trying to accurately portray the handling characteristics of our car and all the characteristics of me. It's almost like a graph of those two things. If they don't match up, something has to change," Bunker explained.

"We're doing well this season, but we do want to step up our game a notch. We're thinking about a lot of things. For instance, the whole aspect of letting the car roll through the turn with a lot of speed, not necessarily coming back to the gas until a little later in the turn. We believe we can find a second on average, track to track, if we can get this 'coasting' down."
