Miami, Fla. - Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale follows the 2015 Ferrari Challenge North America calendar from the season-opener at the famed Daytona circuit, a support event to the annual Rolex 24 to Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend for Round Two.

You always want to win, no matter what it is you're doing but it's good that we also enjoy what we do.

Ron Vogel

Motorsport.com spoke with Ron Vogel himself about the team as the new year of racing action gets into full swing.

A life in racing

"I'm a driver and was always into racing my entire life. Growing up around race car drivers and race cars ... Being a part of this was so natural for me and when we got into this business, it was a great opportunity with the customer racing."

To be able to have the same car that you can run here and then at Spa is fantastic ... You can basically run the same car anywhere in the world with the GT3

Ron Vogel on advantages of GT3 cars

The team has a host of full-time drivers that they hope to secure a championship with in 2015, but his weekend, it's all about capturing their first checkered flag of the year.

"You always want to win, no matter what it is you're doing but it's good that we also enjoy what we do. We have a number of full-time drivers including John Farano, Dan O'Neal and John Baker on our roster. You can also expect to see a few of guest appearances throughout the year.

"Ferrari Challenge is the best gentleman's driver series in the world – and it's not only the North American series, you can go race on three continents with these cars."

Other ventures

Through their collaboration with AF Corse, the team's reach goes far beyond the Challenge races though, in fact, they came one position short of the GTD podium in the Rolex 24 this past January. They will have another shot at it in a couple weeks when the green flag flies for the 12 Hours at Sebring.

Ron didn't hesitate to mention the advantages of running GT3 cars either, joining the long list of people inside sports car racing praising Pirelli World Challenge for allowing GT3-spec cars to take part in their events.

"To be able to have the same car that you can run here and then at Spa is fantastic... You can basically run the same car anywhere in the world with the GT3s."
