VERY GOOD QUALIFYERS FOR BARWA ADDAX TEAM IN ABU DHABI.

SERGIO PEREZ 3rd AND GIEDO VAN DER GARDE 8th

Today the last qualifying session for this season's GP2 Main Series took place at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi with Barwa Addax Team drivers getting great results. Sergio Perez finished the session in third place and Giedo van der Garde was eighth.

Giedo van der Garde has managed to get into a good position on the grid for tomorrow's race. In the morning he set the fastest lap time in the free practice session which suggests that he will be fighting it out among the point scorers and with the hope of getting a good start position for Sunday's second race. Giedo has worked very well and very hard and has shown that he has the race rhythm to be with the best, which has not gone unnoticed by the Formula 1 teams.

Sergio Perez, who has recently been signed up as official driver for the Sauber Formula 1 team for next season, finished with the third best qualifying time so he will be in a good position to defend his second place in the overall rankings of the driver's championship. Sergio would like to finish the season showing his gratitude to the team and this is something he has made clear in various statements this week

Sergio Perez, Formula 1 driver: "The objective this weekend is to get a win and this way we can fight for the GP2 team championship as well as the runner's up position in the driver's championship. If we can fulfill this goal, I will finish this period happy and satisfied. I would like to thank Barwa Addax team for all the work and support they gave me. They have clearly been the most important team I've been involved with in my career because thanks to them and their great efforts I will be driving in Formula 1 next season ".

Barwa Addax Team will be fighting it out for the constructor's title. At the moment they are lying second overall, just 8 points behind the leading team but not forgetting the third placed team which is just 5 points behind. Any one of the three teams involved could take the spoils at the end of this championship which guarantees a thrilling finish to the last race of the season.

The first race will start at 11,00 hrs local time. It will be raced over a distance of 172,059 Kms covering 31 laps of the circuit.
