Aitken, who has been affiliated with Renault since his Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 title in 2015, completed a two-year GP3 stint by finishing runner-up to ART teammate George Russell last year.

For 2018, Aitken will stay with the French squad but will move up to Formula 2, with Mercedes protege Russell widely expected to make the same move.

Aitken will also continue to be part of the Renault Academy squad alongside six other drivers.

Sacha Fenestraz has officially joined the programme as a reward for winning Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 last year.

Fenestraz, brother-in-law of Toyota WEC star and Formula E driver Jose Maria Lopez, will enter European Formula 3 in 2018 full-time.

He was an impressive seventh in Macau and a point-scorer on his F3 debut last year, and will again race for Carlin, the team that led Lando Norris to title glory in 2017.

In addition, top 2017 FR2.0 rookie Max Fewtrell and Sun Yue Yang will both be retained, with the former staying in the series for another season and the latter switching to BRDC Formula 3.

Fewtrell will be joined by SMP and Spanish F4 champion Christian Lundgaard and two new recruits, Arthur Rougier and Victor Martins.

The French duo took first and second in French F4 last year, with Martins' accolades also including the 2015 CIK-FIA OKJ World Championship title.

Rougier and Martins replace previous drivers Marta Garcia and Jarno Opmeer on the Renault scheme.
