Torrential rain stops Ocean Racing Technology
Ocean Racing Technology concluded its first race weekend in their history a lot quicker than originally anticipated after the second race in the GP2 Series' Dubai weekend was cancelled due to the after effects of a savage storm that took place the night before. Given the torrential flood waters on the circuit, Dubai officials decided to cancel the second half of the round.
Ocean Racing Technology regrets missing out on the chance to run the additional kilometres and finish the two vital criteria in the first phase of their project's development. Nevertheless, the performance of Yelmer Buurman and Fabrizio Crestani in the feature race were very positive and encouraging for the team. Before being forced to retire by one of his rivals, Yelmer was constantly in the top six and his pace was equivalent to the leading drivers.
As for Fabrizio, he finished the race in 14th place after having started 23rd and showed great maturity despite his youth and lack of experience in the GP2 Asia Series. The Italian made a good impression on Ocean Racing Technolgy, and the Dutch driver showed that he was a true professional and one of the fastest in the championship.
In Dubai, the team raced with 'image under construction" (a livery under development), something they hope to reveal in the near future. In the coming weeks, the team will also concentrate on the competitiveness of their new structure in order to deliver the promised results at the next round of the GP2 Asia Series on the 23-25th of January, 2009 in Bahrain.
