Dani Clos will make his GP2 debut with Fat Burner Racing Engineering this weekend at his 'home-track' in Barcelona where the first round of the 2009 GP2 championship takes place. The Spanish driver, who showed his talent and competitiveness during the preseason tests, faces the beginning of a new stage in his career with ambition and determination, though he admits that his new teammate Lucas Di Grassi will be his 'hardest rival'.

Dani, how are the preparations for your GP2 Main Series debut getting along?

Good. Right now we are very well focused. We had very positive results during the two test sessions at the beginning of the year. I spent last week in Sanlucar de Barrameda with the team to prepare my debut. Now we are really looking forward to the first race!

So you are really excited about the start of the new season?

Yes, the truth is that I really am. I have driven the car during six days only and it is already six months since I last raced, so I am really looking forward for this weekend to come.

Two test sessions with great results. Nobody could see you are rookie in the championship!

To be honest, I have a very good feeling for this year. I feel very comfortable with my team Fat Burner Racing Engineering and that is something that could be reflected in the work when we will be racing. In Paul Ricard, with different track configurations, we were regularly between the top five, and in Barcelona everything went pretty well too. We have a good car and now I just need to get used to long races with pit-stops. But the package is good and we expect to be competitive. There is a very high level of competitiveness in GP2, but my hardest rival, without any doubt, will be my teammate Lucas Di Grassi.

What has attracted your attention the most in GP2?

In general the professionalism of the teams. As for the car, I would say how equal they all are and the sensation when you go through a corner. There is no big difference between the GP2 car and an F1 car. As a matter of fact, the F1 car is easier to drive. The biggest difference between these cars are the brakes, as with a Formula One the braking points are later.

Which are, from your point of view, the most remarkable differences between the GP2 car and the ones you drove in other championships?

I would say one of the biggest differences are the breaks. And obviously the engine power, which is the triple! And when you go through a corner it is simply amazing!

Fat Burner Racing Engineering was very competitive last year with two drivers, who had a lot of experience in GP2. Do you think that, together with Lucas, you can match their performance or improve it?

I am sure we can! I believe that Lucas, the team and I make a great package and we can get very positive things out of all the components the team consists of.

What can the fans expect of you this season? What goals do you have?

I do not have expectations. My aim is to work hard to get the best out of this season. When you do that, the results come by themselves. I will try and learn the maximum from the team and also from my teammate.
