First GP2 Series 2008 collective tests at the Circuit Paul Ricard HTTT
On February 28th and 29th, the 13 GP2 Series teams completed their first collective official tests with the new version of the car .
The objective of this 2-day test session was to familiarize teams and drivers with the new car, which underwent important changes since 2007. The objective has been achieved for all the teams, using the 3D track solution (3.853 km), which allowed to really see the performance of the 2008 car.
The first day's best lap was set by rookie Ben Hanley (Barwa International Campos Team) in 01 :12.652. The second day, French Romain Grosjean (ART Grand Prix), current leader of GP2 Asia, set the overall best lap in 01 :12.031. Drivers completed almost 11,000 km during the two days.
The last winter test session of the GP2 Series will take place at the Paul Ricard HTTT on March, 12th and 13th.
