This weekend DAMS competed in the 2 races of the 6th round of the 2008 GP2 Series Championship on the Hockenheim circuit in Germany where the country's grand prix is being held

After a difficult qualifying session Kamui Kobayashi and Jerome d'Ambrosio met with little success in Saturday's long race. The Japanese driver had to retire on lap 1 with a broken clutch, while the Belgian fell foul of the very difficult track conditions due to a violent shower and failed to finish.

Today, the 2 drivers started from 23rd and 25th places on the grid so it looked like being a difficult challenge. Kamui and Jerome put on a fighting display and carved their way up through the field finishing in 10th and 11th places after 22 laps. But it was not enough to score points. Worse was to come as a penalty sent the Japanese driver tumbling down the time sheets.

After 6 rounds DAMS lies in 9th place in the teams' championship with 13 points. Kamui is twelft h and Jerome twentieth in the driver ratings. The next meeting is in Hungary in 2 weeks time.

Eric Boullier, team manager: "Yesterday's race was very tough as we were not high enough up the grid. Technical glitches and the weather made our job very difficult and we didn't finish in the top eight. Today, we knew that scoring points would be an almost impossible task, but we were determined to show our potential. Kamui and Jerome pulled back around thirteen places each, which is an exceptional feat for such a short race. The point we thought we'd scored by setting the fastest lap would have been some small consolation but we lost it after Kamui received a penalty from the Stewards. It's a pity."

Jerome d'Ambrosio

6th in free practice, 14th on the grid for race 1 Unclassified at the end of race 1, 25th on the grid for race 2, 10th at the finish.

"The weekend didn't turn out as we'd expected especially in the light of our times in t he free session. Our potential in terms of sheer performance is enormous, but we were stuck in the middle of the pack with all its inherent risks. However, we finished the weekend on a high note. Kamui and me are delighted with our climb back up through the field even if we didn't score any points."

Kamui Kobayashi

2nd in free practice, 13th on the grid for race 1 Retired in race 1, 23rd on the grid for race 2, 19th at the finish.

"I didn't score a single point this weekend and I was hoping for a bag full. My race today shows that we're fast enough to fight with the front-runners. We've just got to learn from our errors. Qualifying is very important for the rest of the weekend, and our aim will be to put on a good performance in Budapest in two weeks time."
