Latifi ends post-season GP2 test on top

Renault test driver Nicholas Latifi was quickest on the third and final day of GP2's post-season Abu Dhabi test.

Latifi was the only driver to dip below 1m49s on Friday, the DAMS man ending the day two tenths clear of Johnny Cecotto (Rapax) and Jordan King (MP Motorsport).

His best time – a 1m48.929s – was 0.008s quicker than Raffaele Marciello's benchmark from Wednesday, with the Italian absent from the final day of the test.

Manor development driver King, running with MP Motorsport for a second day, was quickest by more than half a second in the morning, with a benchmark of 1m49.880s.

But, as always, times would go up significantly in the afternoon, Latifi eventually taking over at the top for good in the penultimate hour of the test.

The Canadian's DAMS teammate Oliver Rowland was a close fourth behind Cecotto and King, with Artem Markelov fifth for Russian Time.

Antonio Fuoco headed fellow Ferrari protege and 2017 Prema teammate Charles Leclerc in sixth, with the Monegasque just 0.001s ahead of Sean Gelael.

Alex Albon, who had topped the proceedings on Thursday, was ninth, with fellow ART tester Callum Ilott in tenth.
