LAST YEAR'S WINNER RETURNS TO THE STREETS
As the reigning Monaco GP2 champion, Adam Carroll cannot wait to be back driving on the most famous streets in the world. This weekend's Monte Carlo race is the most glamorous on the calendar and known as the jewel in the crown but the 23 year old Northern Irishman is no stranger to the narrow, twisty roads -- or the taste of glory in the principality.
"Monaco last year provided me with the best day of my motor racing career -- possibly of my life so far! To win round there takes perfect judgment, 100 per cent commitment and a bit of luck."
It's been a testing season so far for the Racing Engineering driver but he's pretty confident that this could be his big chance to get back on the top step of the podium.
"We only have one race so there are just 45 laps to get it right. Qualifying is so important here and if you are not in the first couple of rows then really you can forget it," said the driver from Portadown. "To go back as the current champion is fantastic and I am really looking forward to this weekend. The team and I are constantly making progress and I honestly think this is one of our best chances of winning a race this season".
Qualifying takes place on Friday morning with just one race on Saturday at 3pm (BST). Because Monaco is the only street circuit on the GP2 calendar, there are two practice sessions -- one on Thursday morning, the other just before qualifying.
