DPR LOOKING FORWARD TO MONZA FINALE

The David Price Racing (DPR) GP2 team heads to the Monza race track in Italy for the finale of the 2008 GP2 Series. The team's drivers, Diego Nunes and Michael Herck, will be aiming to round off their rookie seasons in GP2 with strong performances, after both drivers recently recorded their highest finishes in the series.

The Monza circuit is based in Northern Italy, just north of Milan and has a combination of three tracks including a banked oval, with the GP2 cars racing on the 5.7 km Grand Prix configuration this weekend. Monza is one of the most historic motor racing circuits in the world with some of its most notable features being the Curva di Lesmo, the Curva Parabolica, and the Variante Ascari. The drivers are on full throttle for a higher-than-average percentage of the lap due to the long straights, this puts a lot of stress on the engines and gearboxes, meaning that sometimes Monza can become a race of attrition for the teams and drivers. Nunes and Herck both have previous experience of the Monza race track through their time in other race series, however the experience of racing in front of a full Tifosi crowd in the four litre 600bhp GP2 car will be new to both drivers.

At the previous GP2 round, at the Spa circuit in Belgium, DPR continued to show improvement in their performance, with both drivers posting their best qualifying session times of the season so far. Tricky conditions at the Spa circuit created a chaotic Feature race, with three safety car periods, and numerous drivers running off track. Both DPR drivers had their fair share of drama, but both stayed the distance. Nunes finally passed the chequered flag in 13th place, with team mate Herck taking his best Feature result in 15th position. Michael Herck posted his best Sprint race finish of the season, with a 12th place. Team mate Diego Nunes was less fortunate, being punted into a spin and out of the race from 11th place.

Team Principal, David Price, commented ahead of the weekend, "Both of our drivers, Diego and Michael, have continued to show improvement in their performance during the previous races. We have been pushing especially hard to improve our qualifying performance, and last weekend at Spa both drivers achieved their best grid slots of the season. We will be hoping they can build on this for the Monza race, due to the fact that overtaking at Monza is extremely difficult, putting further emphasis on our grid positions for the first race.

"GP2 is a tough, competitive series, with some very experienced, capable drivers, Diego and Michael have both come into this season as rookies and we are pleased with the progress they have made. We hope that this weekend they can channel everything they have learnt during the year into two fantastic results to see out the season. We would love to see them both get in the points at Monza as a reward for all of their hard work."

This weekend the final GP2 Series races of the season take place at the Monza Circuit in Italy on the 12th 13th and 14th September. Practice and Qualifying take place on Friday, with the Feature Race on Saturday and the Sprint Race on Sunday morning
