The Portuguese team wraps up its winter testing on a positive note

Ocean Racing Technology reached every objective it had set out for the two days of testing in Barcelona, the last interseason tests before the start of the 2011 GP2 Main Series.

On April 19 and 20, on the Catalonia Circuit, Johnny Cecotto Jr. and Kevin Mirocha completed an ambitious program aimed at better understanding and developing the car they will be driving in the championship. More than just pure performance, Ocean Racing Technology concentrated on collecting data and on the car's set-ups for qualifying and racing. Kevin Mirocha still managed to have the 9th best time on the last day of testing.

"Everything went well," affirmed Johnny Cecotto Jr., "We stuck to the working program we had planned and the overall assessment for the past two days is positive. We had to overcome a few difficulties, but we managed to do that and we learned something every time we used a new set of tyres. I am very satisfied with the work we laid down, as well as our race pace."

Rookie Kevin Mirocha finished two days of testing with the same feeling of a job well done. "I am very happy with our speed and especially having broken into the top 10 even though we weren't worried about having the best times. At any rate, I was interrupted by three red flags and I was not able to put together a fast lap. The most important thing is that we were able to complete our program and in my case, completing a race simulation with a pit stop."

Ocean Racing Technology director Tiago Monteiro confirmed this positive assessment of the week in Spain. "The work done by the crew and drivers is remarkable. They focused on specific objectives and achieved them." he declared. "They focused on the essential settings, namely understanding the behavior of the tyres and the car, and not on lap times. As in F1, Pirellis sometimes surprised the teams and they will certainly be the key to the first races. Playing leading roles in the early season won't be easy but we are ready to take up the challenge. Kevin concentrated on qualifying and Johnny conducted race simulations."

Ocean Racing Technology is currently analyzing the Barcelona test data and getting ready for the first GP2 Main Series races, which will be held in Istanbul, Turkey from May 6-8.
