Rosberg is the man in Silverstone's first race

Adding to his victory two weeks ago in France, Nico Rosberg repeated in Silverstone to become in the first GP2 series driver to take two wins in a row. Behind him, Heikki Kovalainen and Alex Premat completed the top three places.

The Finnish-German driver managed to dominate the first race of the sixth round almost as he did in Magny-Cours six days ago.

"I'm really happy -- it worked out well in the race. We were able to open a safe gap for the pitstop, that worked out well and we came out in front, and then I just controlled the gap to him [Heikki] until the end. It was a great race, and when you're in front the race just doesn't want to end anymore, so I was really happy to get there!", Rosberg said.

The ART Grand Prix driver also became in the first to take back-to-back victories since the series started in San Marino.

Rosberg, in use of a great car, was able to control the race and the fight with Kovalainen. "The guys were just telling me the gap, and I just kept it there and that was it", he commented.

With his second victory, Rosberg became in Kovalainen's lead pursuer for the championship. "The problem is he's bloody consistent as well, so we won today but bloody hell, he's only lost two points! Well I'll give it a try -- why not -- that's why I'm here! But it's not going to be easy, that's for sure".

Second finisher Kovalainen drove a clean and smooth race to score his seventh podium in ten races. "It was the maximum I could do, to be honest, and I couldn't have done any more -- I was as on the limit as I could be without being all over the place and losing places", commented Heikki.

Kovalainen, a member of the Renault Driver Development, qualified third yesterday but took advantage of Nelson A. Piquet stalling on the formation lap and losing the chance of add good points -- and why not the victory as well.

Kovalainen jumped to second and tried to follow Rosberg's pace which seemed to be the hardest to do today. "I gave it everything as hard as I could, but it wasn't enough -- they were quite quick and clearly they've found something, so I did all I could do to take eight points!", he said.

The standings leader was referring about the performance jump that the ART Grand Prix drivers have done since France, putting them in the top places. "They're not far ahead, but I think they are a little bit ahead on terms of pace, and it really pushes me to the limit. But it's okay -- it's never going to be easy, and I'm sure that we can improve, so maybe on another weekend we will have the pace and they won't", explained Kovalainen.

The current World Series by Nissan champion had his opportunity after the pits when he cut the gap from to 3.8 seconds to close nothing but again Rosberg push harder. "If I had stopped a lap earlier I obviously would have had fresh tyres to push a little bit up, but they clearly had more pace and after the pitstop he was able to push right away, so it probably wouldn't have worked any better to be honest", Kovalainen stated.

The Arden International driver has the challenge to try to take good points in tomorrow's sprint race from seventh place in the grid.

Premat completed the podium and the happy day for ART Grand Prix. The French started from 14th after he was penalized yesterday due to his action in France when he hit Jose Maria Lopez.

"I did a mistake with Lopez so I got ten places back and started fourteenth for this race, but I took a very good start and after one lap I was tenth", Premat said.

The early pit stop was the key for Premat to take a good result later in the race and he explains it: "It was really fast -- they did a really good job, so I'm really happy. And I think the strategy was really good -- it was really important for my race".

This was the second time for Premat in the podium after the one took in the season opener round in San Marino.

Top eight places: Rosberg, Kovalainen, Premat, Scott Speed, Neel Jani, Cilvio Piccione, Gianmaria Bruni and Olivier Pla.

Kovalainen still leads the standings, now with 60 points followed by Rosberg, 41; Adam Carroll and Scott Speed, 34; Bruni, 33 and Lopez, 25 units.

Tomorrow's sprint race will start at 9.00 local time, for 24 laps.
